An exercise

We went to the weight room which means I gotta do this. My goal is to become a better badminton player so I want to be quick on my feet and maybe jump higher but you don't really need to be able to jump high in badminton. This here video is really useful for a guy like me.

The most interesting thing all day, that video.

Owwie

It's saturday night and I still can't lift my left arm up halfway because of what we did on friday afternoon. I can't believe I'm saying this but I think the Grind is less punishing than what we did. Do you know what we did on friday? X-TREME YOGA!!!!! of course. Who woulda guessed? Yoga can kill ya. I seriously hope that this isn't a regular thing or my arm may just be capable of falling off.

Nothin better to do

If you noticed at what time I posted this, good for you! You got a good eye. But seriously, I begin to question what I do in my spare time if I'm posting this late. So the last time we had gym (hell of a long time ago) we had a choice of FIVE + ONE choices for choice. I settled on ultimate which was fun. Of course ultimate was the " + one" because we decided by ourselves to set it up. One difference this time was I actually helped setting up the field which doesn't at all make me feel any different. So yeah that's pretty much it, I mean what else can I say? It's ultimate, I 'm pretty sure everybody knows what that is. Well, Good night Surrey, at least for me. -3-

Jack and Jill went up a hill

Well. For fitness we did something even worse than fitness testing. Up and down a hill we go. Just walking down a hill was tiring which is really saying something. But I did not stop, I kept on trucking. I really don't have anything else to say. Cheers.

Doctor in da house

What happened? Apparently somebody jacked neuf's noodles (Sounds wrong? Deal w/it). Since we couldn't play 9 pin, we settled on dodgeball (YES!!!!! I mean sux4us). We (mr.neuf) nominated Simrin/Simran (sorry) to be the coordinator. It worked well. At the end of the day, I busted my foot pretty bad and it was hard to walk but yeah. Cool story me.

Ultimate Hijinks

Well ... I almost had to do the beep test 2 days straight. That woulda pissed me. But 'cause we already done it, we got to play whatever we wanted. We had a hard time deciding for what was appropriate for what little people we had. We settled on ultimate, which was actually what I was hoping on. Just 1 problem, cut grass. How is this a problem? Nic's got allergies, to cut grass!?! I knew this was a bad idea from the beginning but he insisted. I had fun playing ultimate for 20 or so minutes. But of course Nic's allergies got the best of 'im. We already had a backup plan in case of emergencies, we would play badminton. That didn't work out 'cause there were peeps in the gym and we ain't gonna interrupt 'em any time soon. So we headed back which was actually a good call 'cause 'parently  I'd left my jacket there. We just watched the intriguing game of ultimate while we had our own game of frisbee passing. What did I learn? Cut grass ain't good for ultimate.

Final Post

It's that time of year and I'm sure there's going to be a giant wall of text beneath this sentence.

If I would have posted a picture in this post, it would be in my blog so please have a look at it.

Participation - I've not ever not come late or without a PE strip (except for that one time when we didn't know whether it was PE or band). Usually, I always participate in activities which is easy when look at the brightest side of any activity (e.g. I don't like beep test but beep test is a great way of putting your fitness into a number (which I like)). When you look at all the positive things, it makes you okay about whatever you're doing. So I always participate to my best (does that make sense?). When I choose an activity over another, I like to choose the one that everybody can have a fair chance (e.g. if there was handball and basketball, I would immediately go for handball because in basketball, people can practice basketball at home so there is definitely an unfair advantage for those people (I ain't naming names)). When you are placed on a team that you think is weaker, there's definitely discouragement no matter what. If everybody was equal, I would participate more and inevitably have more fun. When we played throw-the-ball-at-a-springboard-and-hope-it-bounces-out-of-the-crease-ball (sorry, don't know what it was called) basically nobody knew how to play so we all had a fair chance. I loved that game even though there's no way we'll play that again this year. I hope to learn how to play new games that we haven't yet heard of. Okay, now I'm just rambling. I'd give myself a 24/25

Social Responsibility and Contribution to the Class - In this column, this has changed dramatically from last year. Last year, PE was the only course I absolutely didn't care what letter grade I got and so did my parents (which is amazing considering their always on top of my grades). I didn't care because I already knew what I would get. I was absolutely against PE and Mrs. Miles did not help the cause. I did not contribute to the class at all in grade 8 and most of the time I thought that not being there would be the best contribution to the class. The highest letter grade I've gotten is C+ ever since elementary. Why would anything be different in High School? That all changed last semester when I got an A in PE and got a 4 GPA. I did not believe it and so could my parents. They even threw a party for me. That was all because my attitude toward PE has totally changed. I'd rather have PE than band on most days. Having a friend in my class definitely helps and since we are all bandies and know each other well, we automatically become friends with each other. Well that helps the interaction between peers. Usually, I like to encourage others to participate in activities. Another big thing is cheating. I absolutely hate cheating no matter in what circumstance. Cheating was an issue in capture an actual flag which is really stupid. You're not going to die if you lose the flag and you're winning anyways so why would you ever be cheaty? Do cheaters enjoy giving themselves an unfair advantage so others cannot win and you can? Do really enjoy the lose of others? And how can you live with the guilt that comes with it? That's why I don't cheat in anything. I always tell the truth about what I get on the beep test even if I have to live with the reality that I suck at it and tell others about it. And positive energy? Pfft, that's easy. Is making others laugh and telling jokes positive energy? I'm about 50% nitrous oxide (laughing gas). On this topic I could go on for hours but I'll end it and give myself a 22/25

Healthy Living - Usually going up the Grouse Grind is a pain in the buttocks for me but now there is one more positive aspect other than getting way more exercise for one day than you actually need. Hey, I can post this in my blog (unfortunately, I didn't go up the grind this year other than that time I did it at the beginning of the year. See previous post). But really, I think my fitness outside of school is okay. I walk to and fro school and I walk with my parents out in the community on evenings but I didn't go out today cause I had to write this post. O the irony of that. On top of that, there's the occasional grind and other mountain trails (like first, second and third peaks in Squamish). Also the badminton classes and an intense ping pong rivalry with me and my family. For the beep test, I definitely can reach the 8.9 "average" but beyond that, I don't think I can do. My best score was 8.1 and I learned After that I should be aiming for 8.9. O well, the next time I DON'T get stomach cramps I WILL get 8.9. This section I'd give a 20/25

Digital Portfolio and Reflective Skills - Well I'm definitely gonna hurt on this section. My blog ain't nothing special compared to some others I've seen. I've got 19 posts plus this one mostly because when I do something and it ain't nothing special, I feel like I haven't learned anything and I don't see any reason why I should post. I know I should post 'cause every time you do something, you should do something differently. Also evidence in my blog is something everybody has been stressing in the comments. I said this before and I'll say it again: I ain't got a phone. Nic seldom brings his to school and since I don't have a phone, I forget to ask for one since I ain't on it all the time. Sorry 'bout that. I don't know what else to say. I'd give myself a 15/25

I didn't proofread and I'm sure there are grammar mistakes in this and I hope you didn't get bored reading this. I'm sorry for any spelling mistakes. According to the scores I gave myself, I think I deserve a B.

On a side note, I realized I used the word 'definitely' a lot. It's my favourite word.

To Capture an Actual Flag

Today, we played an actual game of capture the flag with basically everybody in our PE block. We hid our flag in the forest but it immediately got captured. After that, I have no idea where we hid our flag. Anyways, I feel I didn't do anything during the first half. But until Nic suggested to actually try to find the flag. We thought we were going to be on it alone but we were wrong. About 7 Gr 9 peeps were already there. It wasn't difficult because the flag was being hidden in a Dumpster!?! At least that's what I heard. When we arrived, Austin was talking with a Gr 8 and eventually, the Gr 8 gave the flag to him. We ran with it to the border. I realized that we only had 10 or so minutes and if we wanted to tie the game up, we had to act now. This time when we got there, the Gr 8 were Walking w/ it!! We tried to get it, but I witnessed them throw the flag over the railing into the heavily wooded part of the forest. Abhishek had to climb into the forest and grab it. We ran back with it and tied up the game. But honestly, what I learned today was that don't cheat. When you cheat, and you lose, the other team will rub in your face about you cheating and still losing. Trololol (I did that a lot).

Basketball on Sunday

Played some B-Ball with some friends. When I had the great idea of posting, many of my friends had already left so couldn't get a pic or vid of me playing a game. Had a lot of fluke shots though : ) And they said I wasn't good at basketball (maybe not but...).

Oh man...

We did the beep test today. I only got 7.5 but that's because I had the worst stomach cramp I'd ever experienced. I think I also spat blood : ( But the thing is that I wasn't ready to quit so I think I could have gotten 8.9 which is my goal.

Hill Running

For fitness we did a new version of the hill run. The hill was longer but the vertical drop was not as high I think. We needed to run up the hill 5-10 times which I did. I went up the hill 8 times and had some four thousand steps. The fitness was a killer and at the end, I died. I would prefer not to do that again.

Speedball

Yesterday, April 09, 2014, we played speedball. At first I didn't like the game because I always burned out way too quickly. The second half, I became the goalie and things went a lot more smoothly. We could never get the ball out of our own zone because there wasn't enough defense on our side. It was a baller game.

Dance Week

We had another dance week. It was quite similar to the other one in semester 1. I love dance week because dancing is something I naturally have a knack for (is that a real word?). My favourite dance by far was country. It brought back so many memories from my grade 3 school. I just like dancing. Also last year, Ms Miles said my dancing was good. : S WHAT!?!

"Some kind of Pyramid"

Man I should start bringing a cell to school so I can take pics. Anyways we did the pyramid which I really like. I always stay at the back so I can run (sometimes walk) more. Me and Nic surprisingly finished quite early even though I didn't cheat (as I did last time). In contrast to last year, I actually look forward to fitness but I should leave that in a midterm post.

Running in a parking lot

Yeah so this is a little late but whatever. Since the pond was being used (Or something) we had a relay 'round the lot. My team was Nic, Jason and I. I tried to pace myself so I timed my every lap. I tried to stick myself under 2 minutes. Nearing the end, Nic was not having his best day and was real beat up but me and Jason encouraged him to keep going. The worst part was that it was right after lunch so I'm pretty sure that everybody had stomach cramps so that hindered us even more. In the end, we had a good run (literally).

Sick. Dang

Being sick for the past week really affected me in pe inside and outside school. I swear I gained like 2 pounds. It all started when we were in the weight room and I was running out of breath just from skipping rope (which is why I haven't been posting).

January 1

Today, we did the community run. In the beginning, Nic and I ran to a little bit before Cambridge and took a break. Then I said that we would walk to a sign and start running and it just so happens that Mr. Neuf was behind us and he thought we were running just because he was there. We took another break and ran down the hill. When we reached the giant uphill section, both of us didn't have any energy left. After we climbed up, we didn't have any motivation to keep running, so we kept walking until the final downhill section and flew down the hill. C'est tout.

During Semester 1... (Midterm Review)

Before I get on to anything I would like to say that I definately changed my views toward PE and that's mostly because of Mr. Neuf. Last year, I didn't like PE at all for reasons I would rather not state but PE 9 is a totally different story. I start participating more and I'm improving substantially and today really shows. I got an 8 on the beep test, my record high, and I don't plan on stopping there. I also improved in other things such as T-test (12.1 s).

During PE this year, I've participated a lot more (such as bringing a PE strip). My attendance is very good. I always try my best during all activities even though I really dislike THAT occasional activity.

My contribution to the class is improving. I come to PE with a positive attitude 'cause it's very important and working with peers is no problem for me. I really don't like people who cheat because it definitely kills the PE spirit and is not cool. Of course I would never cheat if my life depended on it because it does nothing for me or anybody. I'm good with helping my peers set up a game. One example was on Wed, Jan 15, 2014, we set up a good old-fashioned game of capture the flag even though it wasn't one of the choices. I had a lot of fun and I deeply regret that I didn't write a blog on that day. Encouraging others is also something I do.

I wouldn't consider fitness as my number 1 priority but it probably should be. 1 thing I do for my fitness is that I've walking to and from school everyday ever since I could go to school on my own ( my route to school is approx. 20 mins). My scores on the fitness tests definitely shows improvement. I take badminton lessons every week and I go up the Grouse Grind at least once a year. My goal is to keep up my improvement in my fitness in the future.

Yeah so that's first semester. Another semester of PE (hopefully full of blogs).

I think I deserve a A

It's just a flesh wound

I injured my knee today which sucked because I couldn't play ping pong.My bandage looks more like a cast than a bandage.
