Actual Final Post - June 11

We had a final fitness testing and even though I didn't do some of the tests nor do I have any posts on my fitness testing nor do I remember any of my past results nor do I have pics -3-, here they are.

Beep test - 8.2 (previous 7.5)
Vertical Jump - (170 - 125 = 45cm)
Push ups - 20
Plank - 30 s

Participation

I've always made an effort to work hard all the time. I've always brought my gym strip and never have been missing. Of course, my actual skill within activities is very bad. Most choice days, I've always chosen games that don't really need real strategy to be good at or at least look like you're good at, so basically never any of the common sports.

Social Responsibility and Contribution

I think that I've been a good contributor to the class. After moving classes, I made some more Gr 9 friends. I admit, I would make a lousy leader so I never had an idea to set up a game by myself. Also, I already mentioned in one of my other mile-long rants that I would never lie because lying about a fitness score really is only lying to yourself.

Healthy Living

Wait, this category includes your past? Shoot. Well, my fitness past is really bland so... but anyways, one thing that really changed from last year is that I joined a sports team and even though I was in China for half the season, I really enjoyed being on a team and making new friends not only in our school but at other schools as well. I never expected to have so much fun on a team but I will definitely try out next year. I also had a really crappy season but that's besides the point. Oh and also, I've beaten Abhi twice while he's beaten me never. Suck it. Outside of sports, I've made a choice to never eat lunch at the lunch break because that's way too early to be eating lunch. I usually wait until I get home to eat lunch. Whether or not that's a good thing, I don't know. But I always eat my breakfast so that's a good thing. I also went up the Grind. See if that doesn't get me a high score in this section.

Digital Portfolio and Reflective Skills

I think I have a decent sized and quality blog. Posting evidence is out of the question. My reflecting back on fitness is undoubtedly long and rant-y. I really don't have much else to say here.

Now is where I think of a mathematical equation for my mark. So how about 4x20 = 80% because 4 and 20 makes happy things.

Finally, since is my final post, I would really like to thank Mr Nuffy for being my and our PE teacher. My view on Phys Ed has turned for the better because of you and so have my parents'. Over those 2 years, I've learned so much more than my other 8 years, especially more than my Mrs. Miles year. Because of you, I've made an effort to try in PE class and even though I still may not get straight A's because of this class, My last year of PE will bring so many more memories to come.

Also thanks to all my classmates and changing my life in whatever little way you have. I'll miss you all.

An Ode to the Grind

A friend once asked me: "Why do you do the grind?" I thought about this and the only thing I could come up with was: "Because I'm insane." Later that day, I thought about it again and I came to a decisive conclusion. Yes, I'm insane (FYI, none of this actually happened. I'm just adding this for dramatic purposes). No, really. Why would I of all people love to hike up a 2,830 step staircase? I used to hate it, and now, after my 10th grind, I've learned to love it. If you haven't figured out already, I hiked the Grouse Grind on the weekend.

I hiked the grind in 2 hours, mediocre I know. On my way up, I realized how important motivation was because I would only be able to climb a few steps before having to rest again. Then, halfway through the final quarter, I stumbled across my friend and he was on his way to finish just over an hour. Anyways, I hiked up with him and didn't stop for the rest of the way. If he hadn't come, I probably would have taken 3 or 4 more breaks during that climb. On the way, he stopped to talk to a random stranger:

"The Grind brings a real sense of community. Even though we are individual hikers, we are all hurting toward one goal together."

It really made me want to steal the quote and make it my own.

Lahcros

Been a while since the last choice day; for our class at least. The choices being hockey, baseball, CTF, badminton and probably some other insignificant sport I forgot to mention. I was going to pick badminton but none of my friends wanted to play. Pondering what I would choose instead, I stumbled outside and saw lacrosse sticks being pulled out and I instantly made my mind. The last time we played lacrosse was awesome so it was a no-brainer. We made our teams, had a little practice and got the game going pretty damn quickly. I am happy to announce that I was hands down the MVP of the match, trust me.

Organising a game with so many people is difficult but we were all good boys and girls. We got our game set up really fast and I think we have Erlynn to thank for that.

Oh Mrs. Miles

What we did today brings bad memories. In Gr. 8, I was in Mrs. Miles' class. She would base our entire mark for PE not on the beep test, but on the BLOODY 25 MINUTE RUN. And because of that, I got my very first C in my life :'(. I wouldn't be able to run more than 4 laps. But, fortuntely things change. We did a 'run for some laps then walk a lap' thing for 25 minutes instead of the 'run the entire time' thing. Same difference right? AWW HAIL NOH! I ran five laps. Count them, one for each finger on a hand, FIVE!!!!! Hallelujah. Ya, eat that Mizz Milez! ... *Ahem (Clears throat). The point being, I was extremely happy.

Now you're probably thinking: "Wow, 5 laps, that's big news all right." But I just proved that PE 8 WAS RIGGED AGAINST ME!!!

Parent Post (ft. Mommy)

Happy Mother's Day for all you people and for all you mothers who for whatever reason are reading this blog. All you mothers have done so much raising us and being there when it matters most. Special thanks to my mom who took some time out of her very special day to write a massive wall of text. Thnx mom! Anyways, here's my mom coming straight to you live from my house.

1) Have you read your son/daughters blog? Was there anything that surprised you or stood out immediately? What was your favourite part about reading his/her reflections? What did you learn about your son/daughter that you didn't know before reading the blog? What part of your child's growth/personality has been reaffirmed for you? What is missing in the blog that you think s/he should include for the teacher or peers? If you were evaluating him/her on his/her blogging efforts, what would you say? What would you give him/her out of 25? How did you come up with that number?

I have read my son's blog. What surprise me is that he has been very active and positive toward PE now since the PE teacher is using a different way to evaluate students. My son seems that he has been enjoying his PE class, and he also like his PE teacher very much. What I learned is that Andi actually has lots of things to write, his writing is actually wonderful. My son's personality has been changed a lot, he is more mature and more polite toward people, he shows his respect and care toward others. He needs to post more pics related to activities from outside of school. If I were evaluating his blogging efforts, I would say that he needs to post more often on the blog. I would give him 22 out of 25. I come up with that number because his attitude toward PE is very positive and active even though his actual physical condition is not excellent. In my opinion, positive attitude is much more important than everything else.

2) What do you notice about your child's health choices outside of school? What activity and or diet choices does s/he make on their own? What exercise/eating choices are encouraged buy the family/household? Did you see any evidence of this in his/her blog? What is missing that should be included? What improvements do you think your child could/should make to further his/her understanding and participation in his/her own health? What things can you as parent do to push this learning/practice? If you were to evaluate your son/daughter on their progress towards personal healthy life choices what would you say? What mark would you give them out of 25 for his/her efforts and demonstration of those efforts in the blog? How did you come up with that number?

I notice that my son should have more activities related to his health choices outside of school. Since we have lived in Surrey for only three years, he seldom does activity on his own, most time he spends his time on computer games after he finishes his homework. He does diet on eating especially for dinner time, he doesn't eat a lot, and he chooses to eat healthy. Eating more vegs and fruits is encouraged by the family. I didn't see any evidence of this in his blog. The more healthy eating habit may be included. I think that my son should understand and participate more active activities out side of school, play less computer games. The things I may push his practice are registering some extra exercise classes and hiring a personal trainer for him to improve his physical activity needs. He is well done with his personal healthy life choices if he could add more physical activities and play less computer games after school. I give him 20 out of 25 for his efforts in the blog. I come up with this number because he has been doing excellent during school, if he could add more extra physical activities out side of school, that would be much excellent!!

Thank you mom. And now, look at our hike up First Peak in Mt. Seymour Prov. Park from yesterday (Saturday, May 9, 2015)

Running out of abstract title ideas

Speaking of running, what we did today was a cardiovascular/runny thing where one dude would run and the other would do the activity. I did my best while running but after a run, I couldn't do the activity very well. Why did I do that? I started with the run and the first activity was bloody plank. I can't even do plank without running. So that set me up for a great rest of the period. Running was easy(-er) than the activity because it's more straight forward in my opinion. Anyways, that's my rant for this post.

BUDDIES R BETTR AT DANCING THAN US

Sorry this is late, I wrote this but never published it until today.

I'll explain the title later. On friday, we had our 3rd buddies (2nd for me) time. It was a rain day so we weren't going to do anything outside. What we did was we taught them how to play full-body rps. Neufy stressed the need to have them do what they wanted to use before hand and not copy the opponent. Now, in my infinite wisdom, I thought: who in their right mind would do EXACTLY WHAT YOUR OPPONENT DOES? But when we got there, the mirroring was real. Many of the buddies would just keep choosing the same thing over and over again; if not, they did what the other did. Afterward, we played octopus where you can get a second chance if you get caught by winning rps. I really had a blast with my buddy. Just as we all thought we were done, they said they had a performance they had prepared for us. My thoughts: a quick show aint gonna hurt nobody I mean, how good of a show can some little kids put on? No. Wrong. Mind = Blown o_O. It was amazing. We cant remember a routine half that time or perform that well. I have no more words. What did I learn? Big surprses come in little packages. It was the best day of the week hands-down.

Today is April 25 and me, Nic and some other peeps competed in the 2015 military band competition and placed 3rd out of 11 bands in C-division. I put this here because why not? A marching band is pe and band combined so I figured I'd throw that out there. Why is this here and not have its own post? IDK ; ).

'Exclusive Coverage'

And now, it's time for:

Late Sunday Night Blogging with Andi

(Thunderous applause)

Ft. Andi!

(moar applauzes)

Thank you, thank you. I appreciate everybody who came out tonight. Tonight, we talk about the game. What is it? What has become of it? All that will be answered after this commercial break!

(Dun, Dun, Dun...)

The dragon tail game has received a few minor tweaks after the coordinator realized that it is far too difficult to see the rubber band. The change comes after a group of young angry atheletes refused to play at the world champion dragon tail competion. "It was just too ******* difficult to see,"  exclaimed a passionate protestor. Instead of having a rubber band, the game will be played with an odd looking disco ball ring and - I am just receiving news that the ring has just snapped and can now only be held in the palm. We will have more on this tonight at 9. Until then, I'm Newz Castor reporting live from Sullivan Height's Upper Field. Take care and good night.

(Lolz commercials)

The wild student is a social animal. Wild students have many different traits ranging from calm to totally out of wack. As you can see here, two groups of wild students have joined together in a friendly match of Dragon Tail©. It seems that one group's cooperation is impecable. It isn't any surprise that this team is winning the game. Now lets go over to the other side and see what the other group is up to. Oh, oh my. This group does seem to have trouble working together. It seems that they have selected a few group leaders but it is obvious that these leaders aren't suited to lead. There are far too many outsiders who do not understand what the hell is going on. Ladies and gentlemen, this has been exclusive coverage of the wild student. We hope you tune in next week at this time to learn more about these amazing creatures.

Thanks for tuning in : DD.

Disappearing Act

It is really stressful thinking of abstract titles for blogposts (one word?). I've not posted in a month but I have good reason for that. I went back to my hometown in Britain; no Australia; no the US; no China, yeah China, I remember ;). Everyday held new adventure to explore another %0.000000001 of the Earth. From skyscrapers to the worst living space you can imagine, my hometown has it all. I've eaten at the best restaurants to literally a stove under a tent but I still love that homemade smell and taste. Oh, and since this is a PE post, I did a lot of walking and hiking but that wasn't enough to counteract all the eating I did. It ain't my fault it was so good. I gained a lot of weight. Awesome for PE right? China is awesome, it's where my heart is. Canada is cool too though. Anyways, the disappearing act is up and I'm better than ever!

Buddies

On Friday, we went to Goldstone for the buddy project. I expected to be inside but we instead went outside. I was so glad that I brought my jacket. Before we got there, I expected the whole thing to be a snooze fest but it was great. We played John's Game which I now know is called Dragon Tails and yeah. Nobody knew who won but I didn't care; of course our buddies all thought they themselves had won. Unfortunately I didn't find anything that me and my buddy had in common so I stood there frantically trying to think of stuff to ask. Should I have learned something? Honestly I didn't. It was totally worth skipping fitness though.

John's Game

*Late post

John created, invented, thought up of a game. I dont know whats it called so it is now John's Game. A hybrid of flag football and total chaos, I had my doubts at first. It turned out to be a really fun game that involved brain over brawn (finally, something imma good at). No strat really stood out except for not having one. In the end, I think it was totally reliant on the amount of people which sucked when our puny Gr 10 group failed to fend off a massive swarm of angry niners. But it really did come down to the wire when it was 4-4. We lost. Oh well, it was by all means a close match. Never give up and all that jazz. GG.

Oh ya, its badminton season.

Midterm Post - Jan 28, 2015

1. During PE this year, how have you shown you are prepared and willing to participate
in a variety of activities?  On what days have you participated to your best effort and
why?  What days have been a struggle for you and why?

Well, first of all, I've always brought my gym strip. I've always participated during all activities and not only just participate but perform to the best of my ability. The days that I participate to my best effort? Tuesdays and Fridays, just because. Days that we play a team activity are the days that I may not do well. Probably should change that.

2. How do you contribute to the overall success of the class?  What kind of attitude do
you bring and why?  How do you interact with other students in our class?

Hopefully people think that I am a jolly person and not obnoxious. I think that I bring a motivation to perform better. I like to interact with students that are in lower grades than I am because Neuf already said that we (the Gr. 10's) are the highest graders in the block.

3. Describe your participation during fitness days - have you been able to push yourself
physically?  What types of fitness activities do you enjoy the most?  What fitness
goals do you have for the rest of the year?

As I have mentioned earlier, Fitness days may be a pain in the butt, but (haha) I do my best on fitness days even though that isn't saying much. I directly feel better when I go home and the next morning, I don't feel tired (I know right?). Even when I play Dota 2, I feel the synergy (Yeah I went there). I guess I would say that pond run is my favourite activity because late into the activity, I would still be running (very slowly) while some others may start walking. Then I think "YES!!!!" and I feel like I accomplished something.

4. What does "leadership" mean to you?  Who are the best leaders in our class - why?

Leadership is :"Someone who takes charge to organize people who were to lazy to do so." ~Andi
Leaders in our class? Oh boy. I'm drawing a blank here. I guess Erlynn because she did organize that one game of CTF.

5. What improvements would you like to make in PE by the end of the year?  What are
you the most proud of so far?

I would like to participate more in team activities specifically CTF. I am proud to announce that I have not had any poke wars during this year. We had some skirmishes but not a full-scale war.

Overall, I would like an 81% because 9 squared is 81.

A hill & I

Yep, that time again where I have some kind of inability to sleep. Just lying down with nothin to do. On tuesday we again climbed up mount everest several times. Just doesn't get any easier. I remember when I died like it was just yesterday. Yep, just another sleepless night. See y'all in the morning ( probaby not night for ya peeps tho).
